Nik Software

I recently downloaded the Demo versions of a number of Nik Software photo editing plugins that work with Adobe Lightroom.  The various plugins are uniquely designed for specific types of edits such as applying preset or custom colour filters, black and white conversion, noise control, sharpening, selective colour and light control, as well as HDR processing.  The full suite of plugins can be found at niksoftware.com where demo versions of each plugin can be downloaded.

The image on the left is the original photo with minor adjustments made in Lightroom.  The photo on the right is the edited image using Color Efex Pro 4, Sharpener Pro 3.0 and Dfine 2.0.  Clearly my final image looks completely over cooked, but I wanted to test out a number of the available adjustments and this was the result.  The detail that can be extracted from the photo is pretty amazing; note the shadows from the skater and the puck marks in the glass.

The plugins are definitely worth checking out!
